Wycombe Abbey School
  Wycombe Abbey School

The design of the building features large windows to exploit the beautiful lakeside setting, and overhanging roofs supported on an exposed steel structure to reduce solar heat gain on the south elevation.

The modern use of traditional materials to the external facades befits the building's location in a conservation area. Heavyweight materials are also used internally to enhance acoustic control between rooms. A sophisticated displacement ventilation system, with limited openable windows, ensures both a reduction in impact from external noise and the provision of fresh air to occupant

The new building is sited on the edge of the school campus, adjacent to a well established residential area. The traditional materials and scale of the elevations were chosen to suit this location.

There are entrance foyers, three main teaching rooms and an auditorium with fixed raked seating for an audience of 250. The stage is served by stores and two large changing areas.
